Our Town Planters get a make-over!You'll see our planters on all the roads leading into Southwell, adding a colourful welcome to the town signs. The lads have been out over the Bank Holiday weekend giving them their summer makeover. They'll take a little while to bed in but then be a glorious profusion of colour throughout the summer as teams of Lions ensure they are kept watered and looking their best for the town. Tools for Self RelianceIn February we presented a cheque for £3,000 to this group which represented the proceeds from our 2017 Carols for Everyone concert.. The money will go towards a vocational training project for 40 young people in Zambia.
This will be a life changing opportunity for the recipients. Southwell has a very strong and active Tools for Self Reliance group, collecting, restoring and shipping tools to Africa. Here are Lions Mark Bramble & Barry Erlston presenting the cheque, with Lion Brian Dewing, (far right) & Lion Verdun Webley (far left) both of whom are also members of the Tools for Self Reliance Group, looking on.
