The guiding principle behind the Lions is 'We Serve'.
Serving our community - whether local national or international - is more than just donating to good causes. Of course, that is one of the primary ways in which we serve our community and, during 2022, we helped the following:

Helping our neighbours
Very often, it's not a donation that's needed, it's a helping hand - and the Lions are always willing to provide that service. Among the many ways that we have served our community this year are:

- St Michael's Primary School, Farnsfield, hedgehog project
- Westgate Group
- Marie Curie
- Ukrainian refugees living in Southwell and surrounding villages

- Beaumond House Hospice
- REACH
- LIBRA (Lions International Blood Research Appeal)
- King’s College Hospital to benefit young in-patients with a range of blood cancers

- MedicAlert
- The Sherwood Forest Trust
- Three local Scouts to attend the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in 2023
- Macmillan Cancer Support
- Relate Nottinghamshire
- Activity Alliance, which supports disabled people in sporting and physical activities
- the DEC appeal for Pakistan
- Farnsfield Twinning Association
- the Lions International Eye Centre in Korle Bu, Ghana
- Farnsfield Guides
- MHA Communities
- two junior elite athletes to help them train and participate in European and World Championships in dinghy sailing
- Enabling Hope
- Newark's Holy Trinity R.C. Academy
- A local resident for mobility aids to their home
- a Southwell Minster School student, to help towards the cost of competing internationally at IQFoil windsurfing, including at the world championships
- PASIC, a charity that supports families of children and young people with cancer in the East Midlands
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participants at the Minster School

- Replanting and maintaining the planters on roads into Southwell
- Volunteering at Newark Vaccination Centre
- Spectacle recycling with Police Aid Convoys
