The 2018/2019 Schools Challenge Awards ceremony was held in the Minster School Hall on the evening of 10 July 2019 and was attended by most of the children who came top in their year groups in each of the 3 parts of the competition, along with their parents, grandparents, teachers and judges. The evening was a great success and and marked the end of three very successful competitions.
Five of the primary schools in our District were represented on the evening and certificates were awarded to each child who came top in their year group in each of the schools. With Years 3,4,5 & 6 taking part that meant 60 Certificates of Merit were awarded in total to the children for Art, Short Stories & Poetry.
The judges also selected the top entry from each year group among all the schools taking part and those children also won a cash prize of £25 for themselves and a further £125 prize for their school. Finally the Lions club members voted on their single favourite entry in each of the 3 competition parts and those children won a Lions' cash prize of £50. In all £1,950 in prizes were presented of which £1,500 went directly to the schools taking part.
Judges from each of the panels talked about the judging process and how impressed they had been with the quality of the entries and how enjoyable it had been to be involved.
