Our traditional Carols for Everyone Christmas family concert was held at Southwell Minster on 10th December.
We took a party of 17 children and 14 adults from among the Ukrainian refugees in our local community to White Post Farm and its 'Once Upon a Fairytale Christmas' experience. Click here for more.
Noah Shaw, a Year 5 pupil at Lowe's Wong Junior School in Southwell, won the school and Regional Finals of the 2022 ROAR competition for Junior school pupils in Years 3 to 6. Click here for more.
Pupils at St Michaels Primary School in Farnsfield were presented with prizes for their hedgehog project, donated by the Lions.
We gave £1,000 each to Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and to Reach as part of the Big Give campaign, which saw the donations doubled, and to Beaumond House Hospice in Newark.

Santa's Sleigh was out collecting for charity in Southwell and surrounding villages for 12 nights, as well as outside the Admiral Rodney and Southwell Co-op on Saturdays.
November update
A team of Lions supported the Missing People charity at a G4 concert at Southwell Minster with a bucket collection at the end of the concert.

Several Lions were on road closure duty on Remembrance Sunday to ensure safe passage of the Remembrance Day Parade.
We gave £200 to LIBRA (Lions International Blood Research Appeal) to support its campaign tohelp the refurbishment of the Derek Mitchell Unit (DMU) at King’s College Hospital (King’s) in London to benefit young in-patients with a range of blood cancers.
We welcomed a new member - Simon Dawkins - taking current membership to a healthy 35.

We helped out on the car park and riverside marshalling at the Dragon Boat racing in Newark, in aid of the Newark Childrens Bereavement Centre and Beaumond House hospice. Click here for photos.
Our first Golf Competition attracted almost 20 teams from across the region.
A group of Lions was taken on a conducted tour of the new residential accommodation being built by Reach, having pledged another £1,000 towards the Big Give Appeal.

We held a Caribbean barbecue, attended by 30 people, which was enjoyed by all despite the Caribbean food chef crying off at last minute and bottom of barbecue falling out!

We went 'gleaning' again, this time at FarmEco, a Community Farm in rural Nottinghamshire, where we collected 600kg of fresh produce which was distributed to food banks across the East Midlands.

Around 18 Lions and partners enjoyed a leisurely ramble from Gonalston to Thurgarton, round Hoveringham Lake Nature Reserve, followed by a hearty meal at the Red Lion in Thurgarton.

We made donations to: - MHA Communities (Live at Home) to help purchase equipment to re-establish exercise classes for elderly residents in Southwell with mobility issues - two junior elite athletes to help them train and participate in European and World Championships in dinghy sailing - Farnsfield Guides for prizes as part of their hedgehog conservation activities.
We acquired 100 free SIM cards from Vodafone to enable Ukrainian refugees staying in homes in Southwell and the surrounding villages to stay in touch with friends and loved ones in Ukraine.
A group of Lions took to the bowling green to learn how to play this increasingly popular sport.

Enabling Hope - our donation to Enabling Hope, a not-for-profit community interest company based in Southwell, that provides mental health support to young people and those who care for them, has enabled them to purchase a range of arts and crafts, therapeutic cards and sensory toys. From Lands End to John O'Groats for charity - we were delighted to present Guy Turner with a cheque for Framework, one of the four charities who will benefit from Guy's solo walk from Lands End to John O'Groats in July.
Easter Egg draw - our annual Easter Egg draw raised over £1,700 (net) thanks to the generosity of customers in pubs across Southwell and neighbouring villages and at our market stall on Easter Saturday.

Marie Curie collection - on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th March, a group of Lions were to found wearing silly hats in Morrisons in Newark and holding collecting tins in aid of Marie Curie.
Ukraine - Southwell residents have been amazingly generous with their donations for the refugees from Ukraine and some of the Lions lent a hand to the many volunteers in sorting through the items for shipment to Ukraine and neighbouring countries. Details here.

News homes for birds and bats: combining our commitment to the environment and supporting youth groups, we created a competition to make and decorate bat and bird boxes. First to take part were Southwell Scouts. See here for more.

Duncan Monaghan, a Southwell Minster School student, to help towards the cost of competing internationally at IQFoil windsurfing, including at the world championship in August;
Holy Trinity Infant School towards a forest school type area;
Beaumond House hospice for new equipment;
First aid training for Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participants at the Minster School;
Lions Club International appeal to help relieve the suffering in Tonga, following the volcano eruption, tsunami and earthquake.

Donation to refugee support - after tallying up the ticket sales, donations, closing collection and Gift Aid, after expenses, we were able to present a cheque for £3,500 to Support Refugees in Southwell (SRiS), the result of Carols for Everyone on 11th December 2021.
Social event - for our January social evening, we chased an imaginary hare round Southwell, following a 'flour trail' the hare had laid for us. We later recovered with some liquid refreshment back at The Reindeer Inn.
First donation of the year - following our January business meeting, we donated £500 to PASIC, a wonderful charity that supports families of children and young people with cancer in the East Midlands
