Community Walk with Fun Activities and Stalls 
 
Whether you’re looking to occupy the kids during the long summer holidays, or just need some encouragement to stretch your legs in the countryside around Southwell, come along with family, friends and neighbours and join us for our first annual Lion’s Community Walk.

The walk is off-road, on footpaths and trails, for almost all of the 4.5 mile route - starting on the Burgage and ending on the War Memorial Recreation Ground. A shorter, 3 mile route on pavements and solid paths is also available, for those with very young children who need a pushchair friendly route or those with Mobility aids. Well behaved dogs on leads are of course welcome as well. 
 
Starting times will be staggered, between 9:30-10:30, and at a leisurely pace you could expect to finish the walk within 90mins or so. There’ll be fun things for the kids to do along the route, and at the end we’ll have some free fun and games in the park. In the event of rain, this will all be in the Scout HQ across the road from the Rec Ground.
 
Norwood Park Golf Club House is on the route, where walkers would be welcome to buy a coffee, and maybe even a cake, along the way.
 
** Please note​ ** this isn’t a Lion’s fund-raising event ** The main reason we are organising the event is to show our appreciation for the generous community support our Club has received over recent years from local residents and businesses.
 
This is however a ticketed event for us to safely manage numbers and road crossing points.  The entry fee is £5 per person which will secure your place on the day, and this will be returned to you ‘in kind’ when you reach Nellie At The Park at the Rec Ground and can redeem your ticket for food and drink of your choice up to this amount. (Burgers, cobs, chips, cake etc available plus a variety of hot and cold drinks). This is only redeemable on Saturday 8th August, is non-transferrable and no change can be given.
